Avenue Magazine – 40 Under 40
Tonight I was lucky enough to be mentioned on a list of Edmontonians who are helping define Edmonton as a truly diverse and forward-looking city. Of course I am proud, but mostly because as I just sneaked onto a list with many Edmontonians I consider to be my mentors.
What I am also very proud of, is our City. I’d stack these community leaders up against any other in the World. The EEDC, an organization of which I am involved with, has a goal of making Edmonton one of the top-five mid-sized cities in the World by 2030. It seems perfectly achievable considering most of these engaged young leaders will just be hitting their prime by then. To get there, we will need to celebrate diversity, culture, urban assets, our great education institutions and entreprenuerial vigor. Luckily we have these in spades.
Specific congratulations to my friends; fellow Alberta Party director and “man about town” Michael Brechtel, Engaged blogger and elightened political mind Dave Cournoyer, and Next-Gen Co-Chair / urban development innovator Tegan Martin-Drysdale (pictured).
Finally, to my sharp-tongued friends who keep feigning alarm that I am even under 40, rest assured I may look 50, but I feel 60.
